The last week saw a some coaching vacancies filled, a lot of interesting hires to say the least

Vance Joesph, Broncos: Weird hire, this dude was nothing special in Miami. In fact the defence sucked dick this year. There are rumblings about his ability to inspire and bring palyers together. Hopefully hes good at that cause his defences were average at best. A good sign is his decision to sign Mike Mccoy as OC and Bill Musgrave as QB coach. Both of these guys are experienced and should help a defensive minded guy with his offence. Grade C+, though I could eat my fuckin words because John Elway has been right in the past.

Anthony Lynn, Chargers: Weird move. Lynn was a running backs coach in Buffalo until being promoted to OC this year. The Bills offence was decent but nothing special. Usually an upstart coordinator has to prove his worth for a few years before getting head coaching looks. Guess no one wants to deal with the Spanos family and there frugal spending and shady dealing. Who could blame them. Grade: C-

Sean Mcvay: Rams are taking a gamble on a guy just thirty years old. However, all reports are that Mcvay is a prodigy with an exceptional football mind. The offence he crafted in Washington was nothing short of incredible when you consider their average pieces. He seems to be open to surrounding himself with veteran coaches who know the game and have head coaching experience. He was somehow able to lure Wade Phillips away from the Broncos. Grade: B

Sean Mccdermott, Bills: This hire screams Bills. They love them a good defensive coach. Though Mccdermott has had enough success in this league to make me think he will be a good fit. This is especially true if the Bills continue their run based, defensive oriented football philosophy. Grade B+

Teddy Bridgewater: The Panthers decided to turn the page on Cam Newton after another injury- plagued season. The bizarrely haired, hieroglyphic writing QB was due for a change of scenery. Bridgewater, on the other hand, flashed serious skill while Drew Brees was on the shelf. He is still only 27 and could be a very good quarterback for Matt Rhule and co. He is a young qb on a reasonable deal, should be a win-win for both sides. Ryan Tannehill: I know I said I would focus on guys who changed teams, however I would be remiss if I did not address Tanny. The talented quarterback peeked at the right time down the stretch. He tore up the league in the second half of the season throwing 22 tds and 6 picks. In fact he and Derrick Henry almost got the Titans to a superbowl. Tannehill is good but hes not 4 years and 118 million dollars good. I think the Titans will live to regret this decision. Tom Brady

The man, the myth, the legend. A fixture of professional sports for the last 20 years. Tom Brady seemed destine to ride off into the sunset on a half functional body and a relatively intact brain, donning a Patriots jersey. It seems that the ancient quarterback and his morally inept team had something else in mind. Brady met with Belicheck and thats that, no progress, no give and take. It seemed like a rather Belicheckian end to a 20 year long domination tour. The coach, of course, is known as an analytical decision maker who rather cut a player too early than too late. Anyone who watched Brady last year saw a noticeable drop in all statistical categories. When you arer 42 years old it is not unreasonable to see a steady decline in production. Just like that the six time superbowl champion hit the open market. The XFL rule that the NFL must adopt

The XFL has burst onto the scene. By burst I mean the league has yet to fold. In all seriousness, as a football fan I am just happy there is semi-coherent football being played. Sure quarterback play isn't up to snuff (with the exception of a couple guys) but the XFL is doing something very cool. Other leagues have failed because they try and emulate or compete with the NFL. The XFL had basically filled a need (spring football) and provided enough wild concepts to keep your average fan somewhat interested. Honestly thats all football loving degenerates like myself need. The NFL would be wise to check their immense egos and improve their game through a key rule change.  The adoption of the XFL's revolutionary kickoff structure is a must for the league.
