Colin SackorPick

Image
This guy seems to have nine lives when it comes to media attention. Lets recap what has happened since free agency: Colin doesnt want to kneel anymore, is demanding up to 10 million dollars and everyone is losing their mind. A man of so called conviction, Kaep has decided to give up his "protest" of the national anthem in the name of his job. This is fine in my books but you cant posture about wanting change and then change your mind when money gets involved. Sure he has made a few large donations but lets not pretend he is the only athlete with a charity or foundation. Demanding 10 million is a little ridiculous. I get that someone overpaid for Oswieler and Glennon and that doenst make any sense, but come on man. You have steadily declined the last few years, the win totals arent there and your one hell of a polarizing figure. Its like Joe Thomas said: Hes a backup and teams dont want distractions from backup qbs, plain and simple. You could point to his stats but haven...

The Las Vegas Raiders

Image
One of the more strange stories in a while. The Raiders to Vegas story seems to come up every few weeks and then die off again. However, it might have just become official if you believe adam schefter is an actual NFL insider. I tend to agree with a guy who is routinely on TV with two cellphones just trying to get a leg up on his arch nemesis Ian Rappaport. Anyways Schefty broke the news last night that the deal is done and the Raiders are off to Vegas. While I'm gonna miss the Black Hole and its group of degenerates who think every home game is Halloween from Hell, this move makes sense. The bad boy Raiders in Sin City is the stuff cheesy football movies are made of. You just know that between the degenerate gamblers and actual football fans, this team will have no issue filling a stadium. Oakland doesn't deserve to lose the Raiders but Vegas deserves a pro team. Between the NHL and the NFL, the gambling capital in the world is finally on the sporting map. This is the ...

A.P. playing the politics game

Life comes at you fast. For almost decade you are the face of the league. You break numerous team records and single handly carry your team to the playoffs. You are the face of a classic run first offence. In other words you are a norse god and any team should be begging you to play for them. This is not the case for AP. Peterson's reputation proceeds itself but the NFL is very much "what have you done for me lately" kind of league. The issue with AP is that suspension and injury have forced him to miss a ton of time. In fact, our resident switch-wielding superstar has only played 20 out of a possible 48 games the last 3 years. Sprinkle in his age (32) and incompetence as a pass blocker and receiver and you have a declining, one-dimensional back. Now, can he still be good? of course but his options are limited by his skill set. He needs a team that will use him the way the Vikings used him but to a lesser degree. If he's willing to swallow his pride and be a change-of...

Cardinals free agency wrap up?

Free agency is kind of an open entity. It starts and then just kind of floats into the regular season. That being said it looks like the birds are content with a familiar strategy. Let someone else overpay while we sign as many proven, crusty veterans as humanly possible. Mix in a little luck in the draft and you have the Cardinals Arians/ Keim era in a nutshell. The aforementioned crusty old vets can still ball. Antione Bethea is a goddamn tackle machine whose had some sick years with the Colts. Hes 33 but coming off a year where he had over 100 tackles as a key cog on one shitty team in the 49ers. In fact, they were so shitty he asked for his release so he could get as far away from that shipwreck as possible. Karlos Dansby uses the Cardinals to trick some team into paying him too much. But he fucking loves us so much he always ends up back in the desert. He kills it for us and then goes to another team (Dolphins, Bengals) for way too much money. He plays real solid but not crazy goo...

Brandon Marshall to the Giants

Well this is, in a word, interesting. Sure it looks great on paper. B-Marsh is one of the better receivers in the game capable of dominating any cornerback on a good day but his demeanour should be an interesting fit for the G-men. In case you have been living under a rock, Gaydell Beckham (hes Okay at football) is kind of a moody bitch with a tendency to lash out when things don't go his way. Sound familiar? Marshall is known for calling out teammates in a passive aggressive manner. Whether this is on his NFL talk show or to the media after a loss is anyones guess. Now close your eyes and imagine. In one corner you have a closeted gay who seems emotionally unstable because of his inability to come out of the closet. In the other corner you have a moody, passive aggressive whiner who has never been to the playoffs. Now both of these guys play the same position and tend to get, lets say displeased when they dont get the ball. Open your eyes and you have a confused Eli Manning petiti...

AP cut

The man, the myth, the legend.....cut. All day Adrian Peterson, the Oscar Pistorious of the NFL must find somewhere else to finish his canton worthy career. The man who once had ACL surgery and then rushed for nearly 2,000 yards six months latter. The same guy whose highlights will be played for generations, a stalwart, a true face of the franchise finished. Look AP deserves to finish his career with the Vikings but I dont blame them for cutting his child beating ass. He has been injured as fuck for the past couple years and last year he averaged 1.9 yards a carry (yup you read that right). Not to mention the fact the guy was making qb money. Savvy business decision by the Vikings, take emotion out of it. Plus, he has one day contract to retire with the Vikings written all over him. As for his future prospects its tough to say. The guy is a freak of nature who could just as easy rush for 1000 yards as a 40 year old or completely disappear off the map. Father time crushes all great men....

Revis cut

This a weird one. The case can be made for either side. On the one hand, Revis is a declining player with a fat contract and a fresh list of felonies that has his future in doubt. Thats the pessimist. The optimist in me says the Jets pulled the trigger too quick. Sure Revis got burnt to an absolute crisp in man coverage but he didnt forget how to play football. Guys like this make excellent safeties latter in their careers. Deanglo Hall (the rare time he is healthy) and Lardarius Webb are good examples. These are guys with ballhawking skills and the smarts to read a play. Sound familiar, thats because Revis is exactly the same. Im convinced he can make a seamless transition to safety. Were the Jets a little quick on the trigger, sure they were. In context this is a rebuilding team who is anxious to start a new. The Revis arrest gave them the motivation they needed to start from scratch. Assuming the man isnt in jail, he will make a great free safety for a contending team. The man refer...
