Twitter and the NFL

Interesting news out of the league office today as the NFL has made a deal with Twitter. Yes you read that right, Twitter. To stream every thursday night game next season. Am I the only one who thinks this is bizarre? What, I am going to watch the games on this little twitter screen instead of my TV? Get the fuck out of here. You gotta give the NFL credit, they are excellent when it comes to promoting and selling their brand. I guess the big question is why? Are you not making enough money as it is? As it stands right now the NFL is the most profitable league in all of North American sports by a large margin. I get that you want to expand the game but this seems a little forced. Also, wierd move by twitter to actually pony up for this. People watch the game on TV and live tweet (if they have to), those are the rules. It would almost make more sense if the games were only streamed on twitter. At least then this move would have made a little sense. There hasnt been a league-wide change in a while and you can tell Roger was getting ancy. Keep altering the league we love it soo much (note the sarcasm).

The man, the myth, the legend. A fixture of professional sports for the last 20 years. Tom Brady seemed destine to ride off into the sunset on a half functional body and a relatively intact brain, donning a Patriots jersey. It seems that the ancient quarterback and his morally inept team had something else in mind. Brady met with Belicheck and thats that, no progress, no give and take. It seemed like a rather Belicheckian end to a 20 year long domination tour. The coach, of course, is known as an analytical decision maker who rather cut a player too early than too late. Anyone who watched Brady last year saw a noticeable drop in all statistical categories. When you arer 42 years old it is not unreasonable to see a steady decline in production. The XFL rule that the NFL must adopt

The XFL has burst onto the scene. By burst I mean the league has yet to fold. In all seriousness, as a football fan I am just happy there is semi-coherent football being played. Sure quarterback play isn't up to snuff (with the exception of a couple guys) but the XFL is doing something very cool. Other leagues have failed because they try and emulate or compete with the NFL. The XFL had basically filled a need (spring football) and provided enough wild concepts to keep your average fan somewhat interested. Honestly thats all football loving degenerates like myself need. The NFL would be wise to check their immense egos and improve their game through a key rule change.  The adoption of the XFL's revolutionary kickoff structure is a must for the league.
