Terrance Williams Scouting Report
Positive
- elite size speed combination
- routinely takes the top off of a defense
- good not great hands
- elite ability to track the ball deep
- played big against good competition (see Texas)
- good after the catch (though more determination would benefit him significantly)
- great blocker able to take his defender out of a play on outside runs
- very productive
Weaknesses
- not asked to run the full route tree (though nothing says he is not capable)
- tends to become uninterested when he is not the primary target
- lets the ball into his body too often
- raw needs refinement in all aspects of the game
Bottom Line: Terrance Williams is one
of the more underrated reliever prospects in the draft as his
combination of production and deep speed cannot be ignored. Williams
has a knack for the big play and his speed and size combination make
him dangerous from all areas of the field. Williams biggest obstacle
to NFL stardom is himself. His potential is immense but he needs to
put in the work and develop a better all-around game. Should Williams
decide to get out of his own way, he could be a star at the next
level.
Diagnosis: 1st round (
rawness and questions about effort could drive him as low as the 3rd
round)
