Hope in Cleveland
The laughing stock of professional sports has something to look forward to. They found their franchise cornerstone in Baker Mayfield. A guy whose swagger, leadership and play finally provides a listless team the identity they have been searching for since their inception in Cleveland. Baker is just the tip of the iceberg for this team. Draft picks such as Myles Garrett, Denzel Ward and Nick Chubb have created a young nucleus in which to build on. Couple this with some splashy moves: Acquiring mega star Odell Beckham and competent pass rusher Olivier Vernon, and you have a team on the up and up. This team from top to bottom looks like one of the most talented in the league. It will be up to Freddie Kitchens (a first time head coach) to keep this collection of talent and larger then life egos in check and steer them in the right direction. We already know he clicks with Baker and runs a competent offence. The key for Kitchens will be relying on his defensive staff and assistants to help him run the entire team. Cleveland has taken a bunch of calculated risks this year. Odell Beckham and Kareem Hunt to name a few. However, if this team clicks and performs like they do on paper and Hunt comes back from suspension and plays like his old self, they will be tough to stop. Its Super Bowl or bust in Cleveland which is a wild thing to type.
