Preview for tonights game
The falcons and Saints matchup in one of the better games of week 14. Im gonna try something a little different. Were gonna do a position by position breakdown so you can get a full feel of what to expect tonight
QB: Neither one of these guys have put up huge numbers this year. With their respective backfields dominating the game, they havent needed to carry their teams like in years passed. Brees gets the slight edge here. The numbers are similar this year but Brees has his team playing out of their mind. Ryan has been a little sporadic this year but has found a groove as of late
RB: This is a matchup of the two best running back duos in the league. Both sets of backs are capable of doing a little bit of everything. Running, catching the ball, blocking doesnt matter, all four of these guys can exploit you. Freeman and Coleman are the more established duo but Ingram and Kamara are white hot. They are setting records left and right and have actually turned the saints into a running team. They get the edge here
WR: Both number ones can cause problems. However, Julio Jones is just incredible. This combined with the depth that the Falcons have with Sanu and Gabriel makes this an easy choice. Falcons all the way. Keep an eye on mike thomas though, guy can ball out
TE: Kind of a pick you poison here. If you favour the complete, blocking tight end then the Saints take it. Hill and Fleener have really stepped up their blocking game this year and it shows. If you prefer the flashy receiving tight end, then Austin Hooper is your man. A true field stretching option capable of making plays up the seam. Verdict: a push based in preference.
Oline: Saints line is playing out of their mind right now. They have the advantage here.
Defence: Both are talented and capable of shutting teams down. If we are talking front seven, its the Falcons. If we are talking secondary then the Saints have it by a mile.
Verdict: Should be one hell of a game. On paper these teams matchup very well. The thing to watch is Drew Brees taking advantage of a banged up Falcons secondary. If he can air it out like he has in the past then their offence becomes unstoppable with those two backs. Saints by a touchdown.
