Bortles just isnt good....sorry



I want to like Blake Bortles, I really do. At first glance the guy is a carbon copy of big ben. 6'5, big arm, superior athleticism and the ability to pick up yards on the ground. Upon further examination you have a guy that is not a starting caliber player. His throwing motion and mechanics are trash and his accuracy really suffers as a result. He is prone to interceptions and experiences multiple lapses in judgement when it comes to reading coverages. This may seem like a surprise to some who remember his 2015 season but numbers don't tell the whole story. Jacksonville was down almost every game that season, by multiple scores. This allowed Bortles to pad his stats and take advantage of the physically imposing Allen brothers on the outside. With that in mind, the man was never very good. The signs were always there with this guy. He came from a small university where he, surprise, struggled with intermediate and deep accuracy. His athleticism and appearance tricked teams into thinking he was in fact a top ten talent. Classic "looks good in shorts" player. Look I'm not saying the kid cant turn it around. He finally has talent at the running back position and an offensive minded head coach so if he is going to succeed now is the time. What worries me is the Jaguars actually are considering Chad Henne as replacement at quarterback. Thats when you know there are some serious issues.

The man, the myth, the legend. A fixture of professional sports for the last 20 years. Tom Brady seemed destine to ride off into the sunset on a half functional body and a relatively intact brain, donning a Patriots jersey. It seems that the ancient quarterback and his morally inept team had something else in mind. Brady met with Belicheck and thats that, no progress, no give and take. It seemed like a rather Belicheckian end to a 20 year long domination tour. The coach, of course, is known as an analytical decision maker who rather cut a player too early than too late. Anyone who watched Brady last year saw a noticeable drop in all statistical categories. When you arer 42 years old it is not unreasonable to see a steady decline in production. The XFL rule that the NFL must adopt

The XFL has burst onto the scene. By burst I mean the league has yet to fold. In all seriousness, as a football fan I am just happy there is semi-coherent football being played. Sure quarterback play isn't up to snuff (with the exception of a couple guys) but the XFL is doing something very cool. Other leagues have failed because they try and emulate or compete with the NFL. The XFL had basically filled a need (spring football) and provided enough wild concepts to keep your average fan somewhat interested. Honestly thats all football loving degenerates like myself need. The NFL would be wise to check their immense egos and improve their game through a key rule change.  The adoption of the XFL's revolutionary kickoff structure is a must for the league.
