Eugene Monroe cut

I have a theory here. It is a "hot take" of sorts. Monroe has always been an upper echelon tackle worthy of a starting job. That is, until he came out in support of medical Marijuana. John Harbaugh being the conservative football guy he is probably had a heart attack. WHat followed was a systematic dismantling of Monoroe's standing on the team. They selected ROnnie Stanley and would rather keep a turnstile at right tackle then deal with Monoroe's "bullshit". Cant put all the blame on the Ravens here. There is definitely a random drug test in Monoroe's near future.

Reshad Jones shows up

Well that was quick. I didnt think that this guy would ever sit out any sort of meaningful games. The whole "will sit out the season" mantra is one that is not followed with much action. In fact other then Chancellor last year, I cannot think of another guy who sat out regular season games because of a contract dispute. Now this is not to say that Jones is not a man of his word. Tactics like this are often used in negotiations to force the hand of your advisory. Fortunately, Jones decided to show up today. Hes a gamer who is being paid exactly what hes worth. Nonetheless this is something to be monitored in the next year or so.

Broncos resign Marshall

They did it, Denver finally resigned one of their players. In one of the most tumultuous apres-superbowl off seasons in recent memory. The Broncos watched key pieces (including their qb of the future) walk. Whats worse is they haven't resigned Von Miller yet. This signing is a move in a move in the right direction. Brandon Marshall is one of the most underrated pieces of the vaunted Denver defence. He holds down the middle of the defence with savvy coverage and run support. His leadership is another quality which made his resigning a virtual no-brainer

Mcfadden injured

In the least surprising news of today...or any day, DMC is hurt again. The craziest part of this is the fact that it didn't happen on the football field. Details are sketchy but apparently he hurt himself in a "home accident", whatever that means. Unfortunate break for a guy who was just proving that he could stay healthy the last two years. This injury could spell doom for his playing time even after he returns in a few months. Elliott is going to be a stud and Alfred Morris is no slouch. That leaves McFadden as the de facto man out.

Cox mega deal

Fletcher Cox received a deservedly ridiculous contract. The deal is worth up to a 114 million with a non-qb record of 63 million guarenteed. Cox is a certified game changer who is stout aginast the run and very productive rushing the passer. There is a premium on 3-4 ends who can produce 9-10 sacks. These guys dont come around very often and it was wise of philly to realize they have a stud on their hands.

Joey Bosa

Bosa has decided to holdout. Which literally makes zero sense. The rookie pay scale is pretty cut and dry. There is only a few million in leeway one way or another. This has prevented numerous rookies from holding out and missing valuable time to start their career. Bosa needs to take what he is offered. He has no leverage and a holdout can be extremely damaging to a rookie. Sort your shit out and sign the dotted line Joey.

Reshad Jones holdout

This is brutal. Jones is one of the highest paid safeties in the league. He recently signed a big contract that paid him 7 million a year. However, he recently had one of the best seasons of any safety. As a result, he wants more money. He made his displeasure known and will reportedly sit out the season if something is not done. The phins are in a rough spot. I think they need to do something similar to what Seattle did for Marshawn Lynch. Restructure his deal so as to reward him with more guarenteed money. If this doesnt work, they might have to implore the same strategy that the Hawks did last year. With Cam Chancellor holding out, they refused to budge. Chancellor eventually returned after a couple of regular season games and hasnt made a peep since. Jones is already being paid what he deserves and the phins cannot afford to pay him anymore. Hardball is the only option here...unfortunately for both parties
